Consulting
You don't always need more developers. Sometimes you need the right decision.
Good technology decisions start long before the first line of code. Not every company needs more hands — sometimes it needs someone experienced to look at the full picture, ask the right questions and help it choose well.
We're a software house, not a consultancy. Our experience comes from building real products — and you can get it without moving your development to us. Architecture, CTO advisory, code audits, development strategy and AI — for startups, companies and organisations.
// 01 · When to bring in a consultant
Sometimes all it takes to move forward is a second look from someone who's been there.
Five situations where one good conversation saves months of building in the wrong direction.
- 01
You have an idea, but don't know where to start?
We'll help you work out what actually needs building, what can wait, which technology fits, and how to approach an MVP without spending the budget on the wrong things.
- 02
You have a dev team, but aren't sure the project is on track?
We'll review the architecture, workflows, code quality and progress. We'll identify bottlenecks and risks and recommend practical changes — not replacing people.
- 03
You received a development quote and can't tell if it makes sense?
We'll examine the spec, scope, proposed solution and effort estimate. We'll help you understand what you're paying for, what may be missing and what to close before you commit.
- 04
The product is live, but every change turns into a project?
We'll find what's slowing development down: code structure, infrastructure, process, technical debt or architectural decisions. We'll build improvement recommendations without rushing to throw the system away and start over.
- 05
You want AI in the company but don't know what's actually worth doing?
We'll help you identify uses with real value, test technical feasibility, weigh costs and risks — and tell the difference between an AI solution that impresses in a demo and one you can run for years.
// 02 · Consulting services
Technology expertise. Product thinking. Field experience.
Six areas we advise on — each of them something we also do ourselves, every day.
- 01
Technology consulting & development strategy
Technology selection, system design, software architecture, cloud infrastructure and build-vs-buy decisions. Solutions that fit the product, the team, the budget and the growth plan — not just what's popular right now.
- 02
Startup consulting & MVP planning
From idea to a development plan you can actually execute. We sharpen the requirements, isolate the must-have features, set priorities and build a roadmap that connects business goals to the resources you have.
- 03
CTO advisory & executive support
Professional support for CEOs, founders, product managers and dev teams who need an experienced technology partner in the decision room. A one-off consultation, a review of an existing team's decisions, or ongoing advisory — without hiring another full-time CTO.
- 04
Code & architecture review — Technical Audit
A professional review of an existing system: code quality, architecture, performance, security, infrastructure, maintainability and room to grow. At the end — a clear picture and prioritised recommendations: what needs attention now, what can improve later, and what actually works well.
- 05
AI & automation consulting
How do you integrate AI in a way that creates real value? We review existing processes and products, find opportunities for AI and automation and define a workable solution — including integrations, human oversight, data security and running costs.
- 06
Stuck-project diagnosis & process improvement
When deadlines slip, the budget grows or the team struggles to move — you need to understand why. We review the project at the technical and management level, find what's holding it back and build a plan to get back on track. Not necessarily a new team — sometimes a few right decisions change how everything works.
// 03 · Three engagement tracks
A one-off consultation, an in-depth audit or ongoing advisory — whatever the decision calls for.
Not every question needs a consulting project. Pick the track by the size of the decision, not the other way round. Scope, deliverables and cost are defined upfront, in writing.
| Track | One-off consultation | Professional audit | Ongoing CTO / technology advisory |
|---|---|---|---|
| Right when… | There's one clear decision on the table: a quote, a technology choice, go or no-go. | You need a full picture of a system, project or team before a big decision — an acquisition, an investment, a vendor change, a rewrite. | Technology decisions come up every week, and nobody in the company can make them with confidence. |
| What it looks like | One or two focused sessions, after we've read the material you sent in advance. | A time-boxed process: access to code, infrastructure, documents and people; interviews; hands-on checks. | A standing arrangement: regular sessions, availability for questions in between, a seat in decisions and team discussions. |
| What you get | A reasoned recommendation, the alternatives considered, and what to close before you commit. | A findings document with prioritised recommendations: what's urgent, what can wait, and what works well and should be left alone. | A decision-making partner over time, a record of decisions and their reasoning, and a plan that evolves with the business. |
| Who's involved on your side | The decision-maker. Sometimes whoever knows the system. | Management, whoever knows the code and infrastructure, and if needed — the current vendor. | The CEO or founder, the dev team and product managers. |
| And afterwards | You carry on alone. If another question comes up — you know who to call. | You implement with your in-house team, your current vendor or with us. The recommendations are yours either way. | We continue for as long as it's useful. When an in-house CTO arrives — we help them settle in. |
Right when…
One-off consultation: There's one clear decision on the table: a quote, a technology choice, go or no-go.
Professional audit: You need a full picture of a system, project or team before a big decision — an acquisition, an investment, a vendor change, a rewrite.
Ongoing CTO / technology advisory: Technology decisions come up every week, and nobody in the company can make them with confidence.

// 04 · What you walk away with
Not a pretty deck. A clear direction you can act on.
Depending on the engagement, the process ends with some or all of these:
- 01
A professional diagnosis
Of the current state and the central challenges — what's actually happening, not what seems to be.
- 02
Recommendations with alternatives
Technology and product recommendations, with the alternatives considered and why they weren't chosen.
- 03
A practical roadmap
Recommended steps for execution, in an order that delivers value early and reduces risk.
- 04
Priorities and estimates
Effort, cost and risk assessment per item — so you can decide what comes first.
- 05
Process improvements
Recommendations for development processes, teams and infrastructure — what to change, add and stop.
- 06
A decision document
One you can hand as-is to your existing dev team or vendor — without us needing to be in the room.
We don't believe in consulting that stays in the meeting room. The goal is to give you the tools to decide and move forward.
// 05 · Why OneZero
Because we don't just advise on development. We build every day.
- 01
Practical experience, not just theory.
We work with startups and companies on apps, platforms, enterprise systems, SaaS products and AI solutions. We know the challenges not only from the side that recommends — but from the side that has to make the system work in production.
- 02
A whole team behind the advice.
We have expertise in architecture, engineering, product management, UI/UX, QA and infrastructure. When needed, the same problem can be examined from several professional angles — instead of relying on one person's opinion.
- 03
We understand the business, not just the tech.
Technology is a tool, not the goal. We look at your users, budget, timelines, business model and targets before recommending a solution.
- 04
We also know what not to do.
After years of building products, we've learned which decisions turn a simple project into a complex, expensive one. Sometimes our biggest value is spotting what shouldn't be built at all.
- 05
You don't have to build with us.
Take the recommendations and implement them with your in-house team or your current vendor. And if you need help with execution too — we do that as well.
// What this is not
Three things you won't get from us.
Not general business consulting
We won't write your business plan or advise on fundraising. We advise on technology, product and engineering — the field we actually work in.
Not a sales funnel for development
The recommendation doesn't depend on whether you continue with us. If the right answer is to stay with your current vendor — or not to build at all — that's what you'll hear.
Not a report nobody reads
Every finding comes with a "so what do we do". The review is done when you have a prioritised list the team can start on tomorrow morning.
// 06 · How it works
Four stages. No philosophy.
The same process on every track — only the depth changes.
- 01STAGE 1
Understand the challenge
We start with a conversation where we learn about the company, the product, the team and the problem you want to solve. We define what needs checking — and which decision the consulting should lead to.
- 02STAGE 2
Go deep
As needed, we review specs, code, infrastructure, development processes, product documents or existing technology decisions. We work with the relevant people in the company, not just the documents.
- 03STAGE 3
Form recommendations
We present the findings, alternatives and risks. We explain what to do now, what can wait, and what each decision means — in language a non-engineer understands.
- 04STAGE 4
Continue the way that suits you
You can finish with a standalone action plan, continue into periodic advisory, or bring in the OneZero team to implement some of the recommendations. That decision is yours — once you have all the information.
// 07 · Who it's for
For anyone who has to make a technology decision — not just those who need developers.
- 01
Founders and startup teams
Who want to get the decisions right before investing serious time and money in development.
- 02
CEOs and executives
Who need to know whether their system, dev team or technology investment is heading in the right direction.
- 03
CTOs and engineering managers
Who want a second opinion, expertise in a specific area, or help with a complex architectural challenge.
- 04
Companies with an external vendor
Who want independent, professional oversight of work quality, project progress and technology decisions.
// If you also need hands
Sometimes consulting is only the beginning.
Most clients implement the recommendations with their own team. When execution is needed too — this is where we continue:
// 08 · FAQ
Questions people ask before they call.
01.Does OneZero offer technology consulting without development services?
Yes. Technology and product consulting is available from us as a standalone service. There's no need to commit to a development project, and you can implement the recommendations with your own team or current vendor.
02.Can you review code written by another company?
Yes. We run code reviews and technical audits on existing systems: identifying risks, examining the architecture and recommending improvements. The scope depends on the system and the level of access available — to the code, the infrastructure and the people who built it.
03.Can you help a startup that has no CTO?
Yes. We support founders through technology decisions, help choose solutions and vendors, define a development plan and provide ongoing technology advisory. When you hire an in-house CTO — we help them settle in, we don't compete with them.
04.Do you also work alongside in-house development teams?
Absolutely. We work alongside a CTO, an engineering manager, an in-house engineering team or an existing development company. The goal is to strengthen decision-making — not to replace people unnecessarily.
05.Can I get advice before signing with a development company?
Yes, and it's one of the most common uses. Together we review the spec, the quote, the technology alternatives, the scope and the risks — before you commit. If there's no spec yet, we'll help you define what it should contain.
06.Do you also help with AI adoption in companies?
Yes. We help assess feasibility and business value, plan integrations and automations, and evaluate the technical implications of bringing AI into existing products and processes — including human oversight, data security and ongoing running costs.
07.How much does technology consulting cost?
It depends on scope. A focused consultation, a full system audit and ongoing CTO advisory require different levels of work. After an intro call we define scope, deliverables and cost together — upfront and in writing, before we start.
08.Is consulting only for startups?
No. It suits established companies, organisations, companies with an in-house dev team, and any business that builds a product or technology system — or is considering it.
